Beginning Band at Union
At Lakota, students can begin to participate in the band program as early as 5th or 6th grade. Band is an after-school activity at our elementary schools and there is a small fee associated with participation.
All of Lakota's elementary schools plan to offer a "Beginning Band" program, which is where your child's musical journey might begin. Check your elementary school's website for complete details about this program and how to get involved. Those students who play in band at their elementary can select band as an elective (a class which meets regularly during the school day at no additional enrollment cost) when they enroll in classes for 7th grade.
For those students who did not play in their elementary school band, they too may select beginning band as an elective in 7th grade. No previous musical experience is necessary.
